Failing School Systems

What do you do when your child gets lost in the public school system? The first thing that administrators and teachers point out is the possibility of a learning disability. You are the only one that knows your child and their intelligence potential. My child just started this school year in the Mississippi Public School system. Might I add that I was far from happy. She was falling in the cracks and the teachers were letting her fall. Failing is not an option, especially when it comes to education. I was practically home schooling her at home after she got home from the public school. I'm talking about learning workbooks and homeschooling online. I wrote a very stearn letter to the principal with my complaint. It was obvious that the teacher at the time, her methods were not working. The letter obtained a request to change classrooms, to a different teacher, with a different method. It was the best thing I ever did for my child. It has been 2 weeks since the change as she has raised her grades by a minimum of 10 points, no longer failing, and no longer in fear that she will have to repeat the first grade. If the school system is not fighting for our children, then the only that are left is us as parents.
